Festive Drinks to Celebrate in Style Cocktails for Mardi Gras

THE MARDI GRAS IN NEW ORLEANS is a colorful and lively celebration rich in culture and history. It is the perfect occasion to enjoy a variety of vibrant and festive cocktails. Whether you’re hosting a party with your krewe or simply want to immerse yourself in the spirit of the celebration, these cocktails will transport you to St. Charles Avenue with some Popeyes Chicken AND a Slice of King Cake as you wait for your favorite parade to roll. Here are some essential recipes to give your festivities more spirit!
Cinnamon Old Fashion
2oz Four Roses Bourbon
½ oz Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup
3 Dashes of El Guapo Holiday Pie Bitters
2 Bourdeaux cherries
Muddle the Bourdeaux cherries in a highball glass. Pour in bourbon, syrup, and bitters, fill the glass with ice, and stir. Garnish with a dehydrated orange.
King Cake Martini
1oz Three Olives Vanilla Vodka
2oz Bumbu Cream Rum
½ oz Crème de Cacao
½ oz Brown Cinnamon Sugar Syrup
Combine all ingredients in a shaker tin filled with ice; shake it like catching a Cleopatra wine glass depends on it; and strain into a chilled martini glass. Sprinkle purple, green, and gold sugar on top.
Hot Honey Margarita
2oz Jose Cuervo Devil’s Reserve Tequila
1oz Fresh Squeezed lime juice
1oz Cointreau
Hot Honey in a Squeeze Bottle
Rim a highball glass in salt and fill it with ice. Combine the tequila, lime juice, and Cointreau in a shaker tin filled with ice. Shake it like you are dancing to the Marching 100 on St. Charles Ave. Strain the shaker’s contents into the highball glass. Drizzle with hot honey and serve with dehydrated lime.
BRIQUETTE 75 (CARNIVAL VERSION)
2 oz of McQueen and the Violet Fog Ultraviolet Gin (Y’all, it’s a beautiful shade of purple and Perfect for my Iris Ladies.)
½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1 oz Lavender Infused Simple Syrup (You Can make or use the Monin brand)
GH Mumm Rose
Lemon Twist
Rose petals
Combine the gin, juice, and syrup into a shaker tin filled with ice, and shake it like you are fighting for the last piece of king cake. Strain into a Champagne flute. Top with the Rose. Finish with a lemon twist. Rim the glass with the lemon twist before placing it in the flute. Garnish with Rose petals.
ROYAL 75 (FIT FOR THE QUEEN OF CARNIVAL)
2oz Remy 1738 Cognac
½ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1oz Simple Syrup
GH Mumm Brut
Lemon twist
Combine the cognac, lemon juice, and syrup in a shaker tin filled with ice, and shake it like you are dancing with the 610 Stompers. Strain into a Champagne flute. Top with the GH Mimm Brut. Finish with a Lemon Twist. Rime the glass with the lemon twist before placing it in the flute.
