Last Bite: Blue Line Sandwich Co.
by Leah Draffen
PAYING HOMAGE to his grandmother’s southern recipes, Chef Bradley McGehee opened Blue Line Sandwich Co. in 2014. Every day of the week, Chef Bradley and his team serve savory farm-to-table breakfast and lunch options in an upscale family- oriented environment.
Blue Line uses fresh ingredients from local farms including Covey Rise Farms, Chappapeela Farms, and Crescent City Farmers Market. For breakfast, enjoy the corned beef & hatch hash featuring house-made corned beef with onions, roasted hatch chiles and diced potatoes with two eggs, and a biscuit or toast.
A crowd favorite is the duck-duck-goose waffle which features a Belgian waffle, confit local duck and sweet potato hash topped with foie gras butter, two sunny eggs and a finish of powdered sugar and cane syrup drizzle. There’s also many breakfast sandwich, omelet and a la carte options to fit your breakfast wants.
But if breakfast isn’t your thing, the lunch menu offers hearty comfort sandwiches like a grilled cheese with tomato soup, a Cuban panini, chicken salad sandwich. The St. Patty’s Day massacre combines house-made corned beef with duck pastrami, Abita-braised cabbage, and remoulade aioli on marble rye (pictured). Chef Bradley’s personal favorite is the grilled chicken BLT with bacon jam, field lettuce, Creole tomatoes on a Dong Phuong brioche bun.
Lighter options include a crab Louie salad, roasted brussels sprouts salad, Thai chicken quinoa salad and more. The full bar is stocked with a variety of local craft beers, liquor, and wine. On the weekends, enjoy the bottomless Bloody Mary bar using house-infused vodkas for only $12.
Breakfast and lunch are served from 7am to 2pm, 7 days a week. Blue Line Sandwich Co. is located 2023 Metairie Rd. 504-309-3773. bluelinesandwichco.com.
