A Modern Creole Mélange at ANNUNCIATION Restaurant
In the heart of New Orleans’ Warehouse District, Annunciation offers neighborhood fine dining with a distinctly New Orleans sensibility. Known for its New Orleans charm and hospitality, the restaurant showcases Creole Southern Cuisine through a varied menu, freshly prepared to order, with something for everyone.
Annunciation’s beginnings were, in many ways, a marriage between two New Orleans dining traditions. The restaurant was originally a partnership between the front-of-house staff at the now-closed Tommy’s Cuisine in the Warehouse District and a chef from Clancy’s Uptown. Although that chef is no longer with Annunciation, much of the influence of both restaurants can still be seen on the menu and even among the Annunciation staff.
At the table, classic and contemporary Cajun and Creole dishes share space with the French, Spanish Creole, and Italian influences woven throughout the menu. Among the dishes diners routinely return for are the restaurant’s signature Softshell Monica, featuring a pan-fried softshell crab laid over spicy Crawfish Monica pasta; Grilled Lamb Chops, accompanied by mashed potatoes and green beans; and Stuffed Pork Chop, filled with Andouille, Italian sausage, and chorizo and served with collard greens and sweet potato au gratin.
A unique favorite is the Chef’s Ravioli, offering something new from week to week but always featuring fresh pasta made in-house with varying stuffings and sauces. For dessert, the Signature Housemade Cheesecake with Orange Liqueur Drizzle is worth the visit alone.
The chef brings his own distinctive perspective to the menu. His Mexican heritage, love and background in Italian cooking, coupled with New Orleans Creole influences, add a Contemporary International flair to all of his dishes.
Beyond the food, Annunciation is an ideal spot for enjoying skillfully crafted cocktails, fine wines, and assortments of classic and contemporary Cajun and Creole dishes. Conveniently located within walking distance of the New Orleans Convention Center and WWII Museum, the restaurant is also just a short drive from the French Quarter.
The blending of French, Spanish Creole, and Italian influences throughout the menu makes Annunciation an ideal destination for both locals and visitors alike. Adding to the experience is their exceptional commitment to Southern hospitality; live jazz piano every Saturday evening also provides an inviting soundtrack to the restaurant.
Autumn brings its own traditions to Annunciation. The restaurant’s annual Witches & Warlocks Lunch takes place on October 30, and Annunciation is also busy booking private events in its two private dining room spaces for the upcoming holiday season.
With its skillfully crafted cuisine, thoughtful blend of culinary influences, gracious hospitality, and unmistakable New Orleans character, Annunciation offers a quintessential New Orleans dining experience—one that welcomes guests to linger over a memorable meal, a fine wine or cocktail, and the pleasures of the table.
